2018 Baguio City Taxi Fare rate

Published on May 29, 2018 by
An essential part of Baguio budget travel is to commute to different spots in the city by taxi. With the rising price of crude oil in the world market, Baguio City is not exempted from fare rate increase and basically, local commuters and tourists have to bear the brunt of this. As part of our social responsibility to our dear Baguio guests and visitors, we present to you the updated 2018 Baguio City taxi fare rate.
The adjustment of the flag down rate was approved by LTFRB October last year and took effect March of this year.  Most of the city’s taxi meters have already been calibrated.

TAXI RATE AND FARE COMPUTATION
The old flag down rate was still adopted which is P35.00 with the addition of P13.50 per kilometer plus P2.00 per minute of travel time from your point of origin to your destination. For example you grab a taxi at Session Road and ask the driver to bring you to, let’s say Baguio Botanical Garden. Travel time from Session Road to the Botanical Garden is usually around 15 minutes or a distance of 4 kilometers. The computation of taxi fare would be as follows:  flag down rate of P35.00 plus P54.00 (P13.50/kilometers x  4 kilometers) plus P30.00 (P2.00/minute of travel time x 15 minutes) = P119.00
We simplified the computation so as to be easily understand by our readers and guests.
HOW TO SPOT CALIBRATED TAXIS
Most but not all Baguio City’s taxis have their meters calibrated already. But, you’ll definitely hit a jackpot if the taxi you’ll be riding is not yet calibrated as it will be a big savings for your. In order to know that a taxi has been calibrated already, you might want to check these signs: update seal and sticker placed on the upper right side of the windshield, GPS, dashcams, and WiFi connection.
None or any missing requirements means no calibration or no fare increase. You can also requests for receipts from the drivers.
Hope this would help you out in planning the budget for your Baguio trip. Be a wise traveler and be safe with your trip.
